Herb Juran, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on September 28, 2024 with his wife by his side. He lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Born in Moscow, Idaho, Herb moved to Salem in the late 1940s. He attended Salem High School, before transferring to South Salem High School, proudly graduating in its first class in 1955. As the star quarterback, Herb led South Salem to a State Championship in 1954. His athletic talent earned him a full scholarship to the University of Oregon, where he played football for one year before transferring to Willamette University, graduating in 1959.

After college, Herb served in the Air National Guard and then began a successful career at US Bank, specializing in automobile dealership financing. He dedicated 21 years to the bank, ultimately serving as Vice President of Marketing. In 1982, he joined Delon Auto Dealership as part owner, Vice President, and General Manager, where he made a significant impact for 25 years.

Beyond his professional achievements, Herb was passionate about collecting and restoring classic farm tractors, especially John Deere. He was known for his incredible handiwork, tackling any job with skill and determination. An avid runner, skier, and dancer in his youth, Herb cherished the active lifestyle he shared with his family.

Many will remember Herb from his time living in a turn-of-the-century farmhouse on Fairmount Hill, but it was on a hobby farm with a menagerie of animals where he spent the last 35 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Maryann; his children, Jennifer, Jeff, and Jessica; as well as many friends and family members who will deeply miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hank and Gladys, and his sister, Shirley Mawicke.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Friends of Felines or the Oregon Humane Society, in honor of Herb's love for animals.

David Dave Emmeneggera

David Edward Emmenegger, 73, passed away peacefully at his California home outside of Clearlake Oaks on December 10, 2024.

Dave was a lifelong resident of Oregon, having been born and raised in Tillamook on a dairy farm. The youngest of 5 siblings, Dave was of Swiss heritage with both sets of grandparents coming from Switzerland. His paternal grandfather was a cheese maker, and his father was a dairy farmer in Tillamook.

Dave loved growing up in Tillamook and embraced his heritage as well as his Catholic upbringing. He attended grammar school at Sacred Heart Academy and Tillamook Public High School.

One of his favorite memories was showing their dairy cattle for FFA at the Tillamook County Fair. After high school Dave became a builder and built many beautiful homes that are still present today in Tillamook and surrounding counties. In 1985 he made a career change and launched what would become Alderbrook and Associates Lighting which he ran for 39 years until his retirement in 2024. During these many years Dave received numerous awards for excellence in the lighting industry. His love of people and his word, which was as solid as a written contract, endeared him to almost everyone he met.

In 1998 Dave relocated to Woodburn Oregon where he purchased his forever home and lovingly remodeled it into a beautiful and welcoming home. Dave was active in the St. Luke's Parish in Woodburn and has many friends in the community.

Dave never lost his love of agriculture and had several restored 1970's vintage John Deere and International tractors. He spent many happy Saturday mornings having coffee with several retired and still working farmers that he enjoyed visiting with and sharing stories of farm life.

Dave was the President of the Portland Swiss Sportsman from 1984-86 when it was renamed Portland Swiss, Inc. in 1986. He again served as President from 1995-96. During his membership they organized and produced the Portland Saengerfest in July of 1993.

In October of 2019 Dave took over as President of COS, Confederation of Oregon Swiss, whose goal is to establish a Swiss Park for the use by all of the Swiss clubs until he passed the reins in 2023.

Dave was an avid traveler both national and internationally where he met many wonderful people who became lifelong friends. In 2009 he met Anne Garner at a dance class in Elko, Nevada, where they were both attending the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering. This chance meeting evolved into a 16-year love affair. They shared many wonderful adventures traveling to see old friends and making new friends along the way. Many of their adventures involved their love of dancing, one of their favorites being the Cowboy Christmas Ball in Anson, Texas.

Dave is survived by his life partner, Anne Garner (Clearlake Oaks, CA) two sisters, Dolores Emmenegger (Clearlake Oaks, CA) and Carolyn Naegeli (Portland, OR), and a brother Frank Emmenegger (CA) as well as several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Phil Emmenegger and both of his parents, Frank and Anna (Nufer) Emmenegger.

Dave never met a stranger, and he touched too many lives to even count. We invite all of you who knew and loved Dave to share a Celebration of Life at the McMinnville Grange Hall in McMinnville, Oregon (1700 SW Old Sheridan Rd., McMinnville, OR 97128) on Friday, February 14, 2025 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.

Kelly Robert Lovelace, 76, of Pleasant Hill, Oregon, passed away on June 25, 2025, at PeaceHealth RiverBend, surrounded by loved ones. Kelly was born on November 5, 1948, in Drain, Oregon, to Dennis and Anna (McKirdy) Lovelace. He was the second youngest of six children and was known from a young age for his imagination, drive, and deep love of farming. His mother described him as "determined to succeed in whatever he endeavored to do," and friends and family would see that determination unfold throughout his life.

He began his first paper route at just 10 years old, delivering the Oregon Journal and later the Eugene Register-Guard, braving the Columbus Day Storm of 1962 to do so. His success once earned him a trip to Disneyland. In his free time, young Kelly built elaborate model train layouts in his attic before eventually trading toy trains for real cars, jobs, and FFA activities.

Kelly Robert Lovelace

Kelly graduated from South Eugene High School in 1966, having transferred specifically for its strong agriculture program. A proud FFA Chapter President, he formed lifelong friendships through the organization and traveled to the National FFA Convention in Missouri. After high school, he worked in construction and heavy equipment operation before returning to his true passion: agriculture. He worked for David Malpass, ran his own herd of sheep on rented pasture in Harrisburg, and customized a farm truck to haul sheep, along with his loyal border collie, King.

Kelly met Janet, and they were married in 1973. They began their life together on a sheep ranch in Yoncalla. Though they had no children during those early years, they built a foundation of hard work and teamwork that defined their partnership. Later, they welcomed their children and farmed together for many years. Though they eventually  divorced, Janet Lovelace survives him and remains part of his story.

After welcoming their daughter Jennifer in 1977, Kelly and Janet purchased a 160-acre farm and built a life grounded in agriculture. They raised sheep, farmed rented ground, and custom-harvested in Eastern Oregon. When tough years made farming unsustainable, Kelly accepted the role of ranch manager at the M.C. Ranch in Adel, a 1.75-million-acre operation in Southeastern Oregon. He loved taking Jennifer and Jim out in the evenings to check cattle and enjoy the land. He found great joy in fatherhood and worked hard to make time for his children. Kelly was a lifelong farmer, rancher, and entrepreneur, with over 10 years of experience in manufacturing agricultural equipment.

He enjoyed restoring vintage John Deere tractors and maintaining a cow-calf herd later in life. He remained involved in the community as a volunteer for the Lane County Republicans and as a proud sponsor for others through Alcoholics Anonymous. Kelly celebrated 23 years of sobriety and lived that milestone with humility and pride. Baptized just days before his passing, on June 21, 2025, Kelly left this world surrounded by the same family, land, and values that had shaped his life.

He was a great storyteller, a proud grandfather, and a man who never met a task too large. Kelly is preceded in death by his daughter Katie Lovelace; his parents, Dennis and Anna; and siblings Mary Lovelace, Denise Kellenbeck, John Lovelace, and Harry Lovelace. He is survived by his older sister, Leta Neiederhieser, his baby brother Bill Lovelace, daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Russ Robbins of Pleasant Hill; his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Lauren Lovelace of Molalla; and his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Thomas and Emily Robbins, Peyton (6), Paisley (3), and Ryan (1); Kari and Vincent Weaver, Kelsey (1); and Levi Robert Lovelace.
